Avent Single Breast-pump Natural

I love breast feeding Caleb. It’s a really special time when it’s just the two of us, but it would be really useful to be able to bottle feed him. So… I decided to express.

It took me about a week to get everything ready. I had to sterilise the steriliser, then the bottles and the breast pump. Easy to do but took ages because I could just do bits in between the feeding and changing nappies and trying to sleep. Eventually I was ready to go. I was really nervous but there was absolutely no reason to be. The pump was really easy to use.

Assembling the pump only took about a minute. When it was ready I placed it over the breast and turned it on. After about 2 minutes I realised there were a few drops of milk in the bottle, then I was able to change the strength of the suction (if that’s the right word) depending on comfort. There are 3 settings. I tried all three and they were all comfortable. I pumped for 10 minutes and could have done longer but my dinner was ready! In that time I managed to express 60ml. The experience was straightforward and easy so I’m looking forward to using it again and would recommend it to anyone.

Ease of use 5/5
Comfort 5/5

The only problem… My fridge broke that night so the milk ended up going down the sink!
